Four Roses Single Barrel

I can be selfish at times. It's something I'm actively working on -- really trying to better myself. The first time I got my hands on Four Roses Single Barrel it was supposed to make the trek with me to a New Year's Eve pre-game. But yeah -- it never left the house. I ended up taking *bleep* instead, which I had no problem parting with. Definitely selfish on my part, but I'd be lying if I said I really cared in that moment. And it turns out I made the right decision.

This bottle quickly became one of the best bourbons I've ever experienced. It has all the components I love in an everyday sipper: plenty of flavor, high proof and a smooth finish. Four Roses Single Barrel carries a sweet smelling combo of vanilla, cinnamon, caramel and dark fruit (the label also speaks to notes of nutmeg and maple syrup). The 100 proof strength takes a backseat to the bold tastes of vanilla and spice on the palate (but don't be fooled -- that 100 proof will smack you in the face after a few drinks). The medium length finish is a refreshing finale with some subtle heat popping up and then quickly retreating.

So yeah, I was selfish keeping this bottle to myself, but in the process I discovered a bourbon that'll continue to be stocked on my bar. So was it really wrong of me? Nope, because you can justify anything to yourself and that's what I'm going with. Those who know about this bourbon would wholeheartedly agree with me. And those who don't know -- I highly suggest you find out. Thank me later.
